Huawei launches the world's first 5G chipset

BEIJING (Reuters) - Huawei on Friday launched its new Kirin 990 chipset at the 2019 International Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA) in Berlin, Germany. The Kirin 990 5G is the world's first 5G SoC.

"It incorporates many technological innovations, so that the total number of transistors exceeds 10 billion, or 10.3 billion to be precise, so we adopted the latest EUV technology at 7 nm +," Ai said. .

Ai said the Kirin 990 5G was the first to integrate the 5G modem into the SoC, and that the flagship Huawei Mate series equipped with the Kirin 990 series will be launched later this month.
